Ervin Martinez
Ervin Martinez Owner | Head Coach

Ervin is an Owner, Head Coach, and Nutrition Consultant at Contender CrossFit. Prior to opening the box, Ervin spent over a decade in the military. It’s where he learned the importance of fitness on and off the battlefield. Later, he was eager to find a new challenge, so he started researching CrossFit.

After a year of training, Ervin quickly realized what he wanted to do the rest of his professional career. As a coach, Ervin aims to help athletes tap into their full physical potential. In order to achieve maximum results, you must align your body and mind. “I love studying the psychological aspect of fitness and nutrition. Creating programs that truly deliver is the ultimate reward.”

Christina Harris
Christina HarrisOwner | CrossFit Coach

Christina is an Owner and Coach at Contender CrossFit. She’s also an award-winning gymnast, former cheerleader, and track and field star. Before joining CrossFit, Christina was a Les Mills Bodypump instructor with the goal of opening her own facility.

When she acquired Contender, she decided to harness her passion for fitness and health by also coaching. “I want to inspire athletes to reach the next level of what THEY are passionate about; whether it is to gain strength, obtain better mobility, get off medication, or just look good naked. I want to motivate women to move beyond societal pressures of what is ‘beautiful.’ I believe you can find your own beauty through strength.”

Brittany Fowler
Brittany FowlerCrossFit Coach

When it comes to athletics, Coach Brittany has done a little bit of everything. She played Division I basketball at Texas A&M University for four years.

She also helped them earn a NIT bid and was inducted into the TAMUCC Hall of Honor (2016). Brittany went on to serve in the Army where she was named Company Soldier of the Year (2007) and won JTF-71 Battalion Soldier of the Year through APFT. Brittany got her first taste of CrossFit via Community WODs with the original Contender CrossFit crew. She was immediately hooked and wanted to train and learn as much as possible. It drove her to earn her Level 1 certificate and officially begin coaching. “I truly believe people make their own happiness. If you aren’t happy, change your life. If you don’t know how to change it, I’m always willing to listen and give advice.”

Alexis Newton
Alexis NewtonCrossFit Coach

Coach Alexis is a wife, mom, daughter, teacher, and fitness professional. Her road to CrossFit began with a desire to meet new people.

After relocating to another city, she got a membership and decided to transform her body and her circumstances. “I loved the workouts, learning new things, and meeting tons of people. Within a year, I obtained my certification and started coaching a CrossFit boot camp. The best part of coaching is getting to know our members. I enjoy doing life with such cool people. CrossFit is more than a workout, it keeps me focused, challenged, and sane.

Jessica De La Garza

Jessica had always been active and loved the spirit of competition. She has a background in Competitive Cheerleading and Gymnastics.

She started CrossFit in 2011in Austin, TX and immediately was drawn to the competitive, challenging workouts and the great community. She came to Contender in 2014 after moving back to Corpus Christi and has never looked back. She loves be able to offer her knowledge and motivation to members through her coaching skills.

Yasminda Serrano
Yasminda SerranoCrossFit Coach

Yasminda always had a love for fitness and body movement ever since she was young. She dabbled in different areas of dance to include High School Dance Team, Folklorico and Middle Eastern Dance where she spent over decade in.

Though she always kept moving a little her day job was working in an office and for the most part kept her pretty sedentary working on a computer for over 8 hours a day. She knew a change needed to happen and with the help/guidance of a Coach/ Friend she began working out at Contender CrossFit without realizing the affect this would greatly have not only her fitness but her entire life. Seeing the transformation that occurred in not only her life but many of her friends she knew that she needed to learn more resulting in leaving her job in Corporate America to pursue a career in fitness.

Prior to coming to Contender I rarely touched a weight and if I did it was never over 10 pounds. I then found this group of amazing, strong woman and men whom not only encouraged me but helped me reach depths of my own strength that I never thought possible. Realizing how strong and uplifting women (and men) can be I wanted to be on the other end of that helping those whom couldn’t see their own true potential and wanted to dedicate my life to helping others find themselves through fitness as I did.

Jacob Olmeda

Jacob was an athlete in high school participated in football, track, wrestling. He started CrossFit in 2014 when Contender CrossFit opened up and has been a member since and now a coach!

He always had a passion for competing and staying fit, CrossFit was a way to do both! He now aspires to help others achieve their fitness and health goals!

Mandi Boscamp

Mandi started her CrossFit journey just wanting to get back in shape. Working in a machine shop requires a lot of heavy lifting and she found herself struggling on some days.

Joining CrossFit not only improved her health, but it’s made her stronger and use proper lifting for her day to day task. It was exactly what she was looking for to help reach her fitness goals. She feels what really drew her in was the community. “There’s always so much positive energy and encouragement every day. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed helping others with things they have difficulty with which is what lead me to wanting to be a Coach. I love meeting new people and hearing their fitness goals. As a Coach, you get to be more involved and a part of that positive influence that helps members along their journeys and it’s so exciting seeing the transformations happen.

Arica Martinez

Arica has always had a love for being active, in high school she ran track, cross country and was the first female wrestler in her school district.

After moving to Texas she tried different ways to stay active, running, globo gym workouts, boot camps and was eventually introduced to CrossFit through her cousin who owned her own gym.   She fell in love instantly and never went back to any other type of exercise.

“I love helping others in the gym and out, at night I trade in my gym clothes for scrubs. As a Nurse, “others” matter, helping others become healthy and stay healthy for longevity of life is important to me, I believe exercise and quality nutrition are key in obtaining a healthy lifestyle and will lead to a better quality of life! I’ve been with Contender since 2014, the gym is my family and I love our community, I’m excited to work with y’all, I can’t wait to see you reach your goals!”

Jessica Guillot
Jessica GuillotCrossFit Coach

As a mother of young children, Coach Jessica found it difficult to fit in time to exercise or had to find activities that she could do with little ones in tow. Running with a jogging stroller was exercise, but she wanted something more.

In 2016, once her children were both in school, she decided to try a class at the local CrossFit gym that was just a 2 minute walk from her house. Her love of CrossFit began at that gym in Montreal and has continued to grow at Contender CrossFit. Not only does she appreciate the improvement in her health, strength, and fitness but she loves the sense of community and camaraderie that is so strong at Contender and in the CrossFit community. It has changed her life!

Jessica has had some truly inspiring and awesome trainers in her time doing CrossFit and has experienced firsthand the positive effect they have on those they work with. When faced with the decision of going back to work as an elementary school teacher or pursuing another path, Jessica wondered if there was any possibility that she could turn her love of CrossFit into a career. With encouragement from her family and coaches she completed her CFL1 in March 2019.

Coaching combines her passion for teaching and meeting people with her love of CrossFit and her desire to give to others the wonderful things that CrossFit has given her. After all, what could be better than the opportunity to support and motivate others as they work to achieve their health and fitness goals!

Julia MorrisCrossFit Coach

Julia is a mom, wife, coffee squad member, islander, and blue wolf. She completed her L1 in September 2019 and has been doing CrossFit since 2009. She was a member of the CrossFit Games South Central media team in 2011 and 2012 and the NorCal media team in 2013. Julia has a Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Science from Texas State University. She is a defensive tactics instructor for my agency.

Jason JabourCrossFit Coach

Jason is a strength and performance coach from Jacksonville, FL. He grew up as a multi-sport athlete, which ultimately led to a 3-year collegiate baseball career.

Following multiple shoulder injuries, Jason left baseball behind and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Science and Exercise Science from Florida State University. It was during this time that he began training as a CrossFit competitor, and that soon led him into his first experience as a CrossFit coach. Since, he has found a love for strength and conditioning and sports performance, and has had the opportunity to train a wide array of clientele, ranging from general population to high-performing professional athletes. Jason has a strong drive to help people achieve their optimal self and fulfill their true potential using both fitness and nutrition.
